What is myScarTape?

The skin is the largest organ of our body, and also the most prominent. It is a representation of us and is visible to everyone. Disturbances to your skin's integrity can have profound consequences, ranging from altered body image, decreased confidence, and physical symptoms such as itchiness, pain, tightness, and discomfort. Scars can regularly affect your daily life and quality of life, and despite the importance of the skin, treatments are limited, invasive, and often not successful. Based on numerous studies conducted in our laboratory, we used this knowledge to develop a non-invasive yet effective means to help our patients. Basic and translational science shows that scars are associated with increased inflammation that leads to the release of various growth factors and signals, stimulating and activating uncontrollable cell growth. Factors contributing to scar severity are gender, ethnicity, genetics, skin tension, and increased inflammation.

Our Solution

We developed an approach that reduces tightness, tension, and inflammation while improving blood flow. The result is a method that improves the look of scars over time: myScarTape. This unique tape with patent-pending technology has no chemicals or agents in it, meaning even the most sensitive skin will tolerate it. Once applied, it stays on for 1-2 weeks with no side effects, site infection, redness, or itchiness. myScarTape provides a non-invasive, easy to apply, safe and practical approach to control and treat scars.

  • Keloids
  • Raised Scars
  • Irritated / Damaged Skin

Keloids occur when scar tissue continues to grow over time after the skin has healed from a previous injury. Anything from burns to severe acne to piercings or tattoos can cause a keloid, essentially anything that could result in normal scarring. Left unchecked, they can grow to be much larger than the original injury, showing up as long as 3 months after injury and could continue to grow for several years.

Raised Scars

Raised scars, also known as hypertrophic scars are a wide, thickened and sometimes raised type of scar which develop as a result of an abnormal response to skin injury, mainly involving irregular inflammation in the healing area.

Irritated / Damaged Skin

Keloid and hypertrophic scars are only two types of irritated or damaged skin. Skin damage or irritation could be caused by even simpler conditions like bug bites or rashes, which still cause inflammation of the skin in a localized area. While it may not be effective on widespread irritation like sunburns, scar tape can help you find targeted relief for any localized irritated or damaged skin.
